After a fun filled first day of wedding festivities came day 2 which was the actual wedding ceremony itself. Zainab had another beautiful dress today and Farhan was looking pretty spiffy in his formal attire as well. We moved venues down the road, still in Fort Myers, but tonight we were at the Crowne Plaza. The event was a bit larger than the previous night with more in attendance and a more grandiose event for the wedding ceremony. First of course, the bride and groom need to get ready:
Meanwhile… Farhan was getting ready downstairs and putting the finishing touches on in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza Fort Myers.
After Farhan made his entrance, Zainab put the finishing touches on her traditional Pakistani wedding dress, a “Lehnga” or “Lehenga.”
Part of the traditional ring ceremony as the wedding continued:
A peek into the outdoor food area which I only got to see for about 5 seconds before heading back inside to where all of the excitement was happening! Thumbs up from Zainab’s sister, Amna! =)
One of my favorite images, well this whole sequence actually during the speeches. Zainab and Farhan were both pretty emotional during the heartfelt speeches, it was lovely =)
Cake cutting of course!
Finally, the official exchanging of rings…
They stole Farhan’s shoes, a traditional wedding game:
As the last event of the night, Zainab and Farhan made their emotional exit from the venue, often called the Vidaai.
But wait, their’s more! Sure this wedding took place on December 24th and that last photo above was taken at 12:30 AM so now we are technically on Christmas Day. After Farhan and Zainab made their exit, I grabbed my camera gear and fled after them because we were heading to Fort Myers Beach for a midnight photo shoot on Christmas morning! Now THAT is dedication! We arrived at the beach around 1:00 AM on 12/25 and I set up some tripods and light stands to create a few really unique wedding photos with stars and even a light painting wedding photo:
These two photos above were about a 2 minute exposure of the camera on a tripod to really bring out the night sky and the stars. Then, I used a similar camera setting to do a quick light painting circle for them:
This is a really cool technique that isn’t as refined as I would like it to be but definitely working on it with some help from my buddy Dennis Calvert who is a master at light painting. Light Painting Wedding Photography, it’s a new trend I tell ya! =). Ok after the light painting we did a few more couple’s portraits on the beach… at 3:00 AM… on Christmas Day… =)
And so that wraps up our adventures in Fort Myers, for the third and final day, the Valima, we headed back up to Atlanta. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post!
